4 Strategies to Help You Slay This Week (Without the Stress & Overwhelm)

By: Rachel Reva

If you are anything like me, sometimes I need a good dose of Monday Motivation!

Here’s some tips that will help you make the most out of your week and cheering come Friday (not just because the week is over either!). These steps will help you actually DO what you desire to do – without the stress and the overwhelm.

So, if you wanna make YOU proud of you this week – here’s some strategies that help me…

1 – Stop the Negative Self Talk!

Repeat after me: I am not (insert the negative word you keep telling yourself). For me, it’s ‘I am not lazy’. Since getting pregnant, I have had to take each day as it comes, and planning as I usually have hasn’t worked. I have had to adapt. My mindset has also had to adapt, as I found myself occasionally saying to myself ‘I Am so lazy’. When I recognised how often I was saying this to myself, it made since why I wasn’t feeling my usual go getter self. I was constantly undermining any actions with some serious negative talk. Maybe your word is something else: fearful? Worthless? Selfish? Your mind will believe whatever you allow it to focus on – so if you have been repeating the same negative thought to yourself for a while, it’s time to re-train your mind.

2. Protect Your Zone

There are a few things I need to get me into the right zone for productive work. I like slow mornings. Where I can read, or meditate, pray, sometimes watch an inspiring talk on youtube or read a chapter of a book. This hasn’t always been the case, sometimes I have early morning clients, so I just make it a quick coffee hit and a few paragraphs from a mindset book. But I know if I don’t have a pre-ritual set up before I go, I feel restless, a little agitated and frankly don’t get things done. Whatever puts you in the ‘flow’ – whether it’s exercise, meditation or a certain time of day or just 5 minute coffee time– protect it and make it a priority for you.

3. The Success List

Some people do this every day; I make it more of a weekly thing. What will make you feel the most SUCCESSFUL to have accomplished come Friday? Make that list, put it in your phone, look at it morning and night, and FOCUS. The reason I don’t do it daily is because I tend to put 15 things on a list and then get frustrated when I can only do 4 of those things on one day. Be real with your time and how long one thing can take. Don’t over commit – you’ll start stressing and self-hating in no time. Just make a list, what actions can you make this week to make it to your BIG goal??

4. Challenge Yourself

What steps would you take TODAY if you knew you couldn’t fail? Sometimes we get stuck on the mundane and forget that there are miracles available for you EVERY day. Don’t stay stuck in the ‘practical’ – every day, take one radical step closer to that DREAM, the big dream that seems so far away. It’s just small steps taken every day – the marathon runner started with a walk. ONE step is all it takes to change everything for you – so challenge yourself every day to get uncomfortable and keep moving forward towards that goal (ie, mine today is pitching a podcast and reaching out to agents and publishers). Scary as heck, but better then the alternative any day.

Go rock out your week! What’s your big goal this week?
